The Department of Health and Human Services has granted conditional approval for Illinois’ plan for a health insurance exchange. The state will have an exchange that is a federal-state partnership. Illinois Moves Forward on Insurance Exchange

The state of Illinois is taking steps to move forward on its health insurance exchange. The state sees the value in doing this no matter which candidate wins the 2012 Presidential election. A coalition of concerned groups in Illinois urged Governor Pat Quinn to set up Illinois’ exchange. Part of the Affordable Care Act requires every state to set up their own health insurance exchange. Illinois Attorney General Says Animals For Autism is a Scam

The Attorney General of Illinois, Lisa Madigan, has filed a lawsuit against a woman who was supposedly running a charity that matched service dogs with children who had autism. Schools In Illinois Can Stock Epi-Pens

Public schools in Illinois will be legally allowed to stock EpiPens in the Nurses’ Offices in the upcoming school year. This means that an EpiPen can be used on students who are having severe and lethal allergic reactions immediately. This will save lives of children whose first allergic reaction to something is an extremely serious one. An EpiPen is a device that can be used to auto-inject a specific amount of epinephrine into a person who is having a severe allergic reaction to something, and who is experiencing anaphylaxis. Illinois Mom Abandoned Special Needs Daughter in Tennessee

A mother from Illinois drove to Tennessee specifically so she could abandon her daughter there. The daughter is nineteen years old, and has some severe special needs. Legally, the mother was no longer officially the guardian of her adult daughter, and so, cannot be charged with a crime for abandoning her. Eva Cameron is a mother who lives in Algonquin, Illinois.
