Good for those States that are taking the stance. Offenders offend because they can - the children are their treat. Stay VIGILANT. Offenders are very cunning and know how to break the rules without even being noticed. They are overt in being covert so that it confuses and makes others second guess themselves..

Mango is my all time favorite. Like you, I also live in a place where they can be picked off the tree. We squish them up between our hands, bite a hole in the skin at the end, and suck the juice out. DIVINE. They're called "Baby Bottles" when eaten like that.

Do you know Cambolas (commonly called star fruit or five corners)? We used to pick them off the tree to eat when we were kids in Papua New Guinea, but they just rot on the groud here (not a popular adult fruit obviously).

And Guavas....YUM.

Spring for you is the end of our wet season (we only have two seasons in the north). It is a beautiful time of the year - very green and the dreadful, oppresive heat is over. Do we change our clocks? Like a time difference? Yep, it's currently 10.45 pm on Sunday night. You go through 3 different time zones to get here from Hawaii and the jet lag (for me) gets worse as you get older. August is our winter (dry season). Can't have a pool party because the pool is tooooooo cold. Now is the perfect time for pool parties. Not too hot. When its hot, the pool is like soup. Hey, I could throw in some Granny Smiths and have apple cider.

You can talk away merrily without being faced with the frustration of people not being able to understand you. There's a big difference between thinking something and doing it. Just in preparation for your impending b'day trip to down under - did you know that Granny Smith was a young immigrant to Australia. Granny Smith apples were grown by her family on their farm in New South Wales. The variety wasn't a commercial success until well after her death.

Several years ago I attended a Carols by Candlelight at the little Catholic school my ex-husband had attended. In the middle of Silent Night, I looked to see whose grave stone I was perched upon: Granny Smith!
