Do you read to your baby? - Blog Entry

07 Oct 2006 04:07 PM

Thank you Heather. Reading is so important. We read to our babies too - anything. I even read the back of the bra package one day. I was feeding and couldn't move. The bra package was right there beside me so 3 week old baby learnt all about the benefits of supportive bras for feeding Mums. That baby is now 24 and we still laugh about it.

Thanks Photographer and Alterego. Saying "no" - no matter how it is done (noise, hanging onto something, screaming, whatever) is VERY important. It can save our children.

Thanks Gwyl - I love those TV programs that show growth (or otherwise) over a long period of time. I often wonder about women I've worked with in the past - where they are, how they're doing, etc.

Caring enough is sometimes the best therapeutic intervention we can offer, and nobody needs professional training to do that.

See you when we're both back. Be safe. Mxx

Does your Daughter get Sexually Harassed at School? - Blog Entry

Thanks David. The dynamic is one of bullying and is paralell to work placebullying. If school is a kids place of work it is ludicrous that we allow our kids to be bullied sexually.

Yes, nice link with what happens in the military. It never ceases to amaze me how we can redefine an abusive act by giving it a different name - service!!

Are Boys And Girls Different? Part Two - Blog Entry

02 Oct 2006 04:36 PM

Great blog. I raised by boys and girls exactly the same and I was a believer in socialisation creates the difference between males and females. Maturity (and frustration over the different play with the same toy) has aided my understanding that the difference b/w boys and girls is real, innate, and it's my job as a parent to handle it.
