Book Review: ScreamFree Parenting - Blog Entry

25 Sep 2006 05:16 PM

Great review Myra. I am ashamed to say that I have been a screaming parent way too many times in the past. It took me two children to get it through my thick skull that screaming was just unacceptable and a type of abuse. Screaming is a symptom of an out of control parent. I'm linking this blog to my favorite blog of the day in "What is age appropriate sexual development in early childhood? Introduction.": http://mental-health.families.com/blog/what-is-age-appropriate-sexual-development-in-early-childhood-introduction .

A Glass of Water May Make the Burden of Child Sexual Assault Too Heavy. - Blog Entry

25 Sep 2006 04:28 AM

You are right Gwyllum - it is very difficult for people to talk of their personal experiences. It is scarey and confronting. One thing we can all do thought is to let the glass of water bearers know that there are supports out there for them. This site has many supportive people on it. Mxx

Encouraging Your Kids To Be More Creative - Blog Entry

24 Sep 2006 10:09 PM

Hey Myra. #10 jumped out at me: "...creativity is a way of life." That is so true and wonderful to see in black and white. Creative thinking needs to become our furure way but as parents so many of us are too busy to encourage changing to a creative lifestyle. It takes affort but gee it's good fun. Lovely blog and timely reminder. Thank you Myra. Mxx

"You're in BIG trouble!" When Your Special Needs Child Breaks a School Rule - Blog Entry

24 Sep 2006 10:00 PM

Thanks Kristyn. I fear suspension of my child. Although, he misses so much school I should probally rather fear a visit from the police for truancy!!! Good blog. I don't know about others but when I'm dealing with issues affecting my child, my mind goes to mush, I just can't think straight and my hair stands on end like an ally cat. Give me another child to advocate for and I'm their strongest supporter. Weird hey!!!! How about, you call me in for your kids, and I'll call you in for mine. Oh life is hard some days. Mxxx

Oprah For President? - Blog Entry

24 Sep 2006 04:12 PM

Oprah is already my imaginary President of the "End Sexual Abuse" party. Love or hate her, she certainly manages to raise social issues in a way that the populas can understand. I would hate for her to enter politics because she may become muffled and no longer be able to tell it how it is. Therefore, in a real campaign, I would vote "NO" for Oprah as President.

What Would You Do For $20? - Blog Entry

Oh dear - find out his address and I'll forward him a gourmet food parcel to celebrate his sheer tenacity. I do remember though what it was like to be so broke that $20.00 was a fortune. Those were hard days that I have little desire to return to.

The Quiet Game - Blog Entry

23 Sep 2006 09:21 PM

Hey Sherry. This made me laugh. We still play the quiet game, but ours is a little different. We tell the kids that the one who can be quietest for the longest wins 50 cents. They love it! The two youngest ones try to our quiet each other and the two older ones nowadays offer the reward. Works a treat for getting a 10 minute hiatus in the incessent noise and random comments. Mxx
