Request of Medical Information from Birth Father - Blog Entry

16 Sep 2006 03:49 PM

Oh MJ, what a difficult position to be in. I blogged yesterday on making Life Story Books for adopted or fostered children. Medical info is one of the things that needs to go into the life story books. It is so important. Check out the article - I've linked it back to you. http://mental-health.families.com/blog/confessions-of-a-life-story-worker-part-2-of-2

A New Resort For Eco-Tourists - Blog Entry

16 Sep 2006 03:42 PM

Hey Michelle Australia is really into eco tourism - there are some parts where development can only be eco development (what an oxy-moran!!). There are a number of croc parks around and they really are fantastic. Did you know that Jacques Cousteau's grandson was with Steve when he died?

Building a Baby Clothes Quilt - Blog Entry

Lovely idea. I also use squares of the kids "now too small" beloved clothing to make mats or page backgrounds for scrapbook pages about them. Renee recently did a blog on personalised gifts and mentioned baby quilts made of baby photos, http://baby.families.com/blog/personalized-gifts-creating-lasting-memories.

Psychological tactics of the media - Blog Entry

I wasn't aware of this case because I RARELY consume of the voyerism renamed as news. I'm with you Beth - where is that ethical line between journalism, justice, popular knowledge and culture and downright abuse of a person's right to respect and privacy. I drew my own line and don't clamber to buy papers or magazines that do nothing to assist a person's situation.

My thoughts are with the family of Melinda.

The Art of Story Telling - Blog Entry

15 Sep 2006 05:14 PM

EXCELLENY article. I read to kids all the time. I change my voice, act out parts, and use props at hand to create an engagement with the story characters or themes. I recently blogged on Bibliotherapy ( http://mental-health.families.com/blog/how-to-use-bibliotherapy-to-help-your-child-solve-a-problem ) to help parents with using the art of story telling to help solve social issues. Excellent article Heather. I'm going to go back and add this link to my Bibiotherapy article. Mxx

Websites for Writers: Deborah Ng's Job Leads - Blog Entry

15 Sep 2006 12:13 AM

Thanks Diane. I hadn't heard of Deb's site but I will check it out. I also get up at 4am each morning to complete my writing tasks before tackling my full time home business (protective play consulting/supervision/trainings and counseling). I'm exhausted but the love of writing keeps me going. Even when I take my son to extra curricula activities I pull out my note book and write what ever comes into my head - often it's my families.com creative journal entry.

The Raccoon Ate My Homework - Blog Entry

14 Sep 2006 03:55 PM

I teach at University. One of my male students told me he couldn't hand his assignment in on time because there was a snake in the cupboard. When he last put his assignment notes in there, he had witnessed the snake drop down onto the shelf. It was huge, probably poisioness, and he just wasn't going to chance opening the cupboard for a very long time. OH PLEASE!!!! Fail.

Photography 101: Lesson 5 - Blog Entry

13 Sep 2006 09:19 PM

I love to take snaps of nature. I live in such a magnificent part of the world too - the colours, opportunites, shapes, patterns, etc, are just dying to be used as models. But...I've broken my camera big time. Tracey do you know if a HP Photosmart 945 Digital Camera (5.3 mega pixel with 56x total zoom including 8x optical and 7x digital) will do the job. I need a point and shoot camera because I just can't make my photos work the way you do. I am a failed student of yours but it's not for want of trying. Do you know anything about that camera? I don't want to pay a huge amount if it's no good to me.

How to Handle Change, and, WELCOME SnugglePie. - Blog Entry

13 Sep 2006 07:36 PM

Thanks alterego and Jenni - change is indeed uncomfortable and isolating if we allow it to be. Nowadays I use the uncomfortable feeling to jolt me into change action. That doesn't mean I like it though!!! Just hang around and see what happens when one of the kids take the last chocolate biscuit in the fridge!!!!! That's one change I don't cope well with! Be safe.
