Sometimes we need to see through the eyes of another person to appreciate exactly what we've got. I know that I tend to remember the boring historical facts of something by relating it to a fictional story I've read. It's the fictional social history that sticks in my mind and assists me to remember dates/presidents/queens/wars, etc. Art is also another way to do this. Australian Aboriginal history is oral. Their paintings told the story. There's a wonderful site called NAPCAN (http://www.napcan.org.au/aboriginalbooklets.htm) that has some downloads of Aboriginal posters with a written version of the story. They're a great way to incorporate Australian Aboriginal historical and cultural info into learning. Not All Men Sexually Abuse Children - Blog Entry02 Sep 2006 03:09 PM Good point Sherry - men should not all be treated like monsters because some of them do bad things. Some women do bad things to children too but we don't treat all women like monsters. We've just delivered our fathers day card to the sleepy one. My son was so excited and freely supplied the biggest, strongest, longest, huggiest hugs ever. It makes me sad that some kids can't have that sort of relationship with their father figure but even sadder that the good men may miss out on open relationships because of fear of having their interactions with children mistaken.
