Good for you - don't let those visitors get away uninitiated! Was it an American visitor though - don't you go getting them into any trouble. If they loved the Vegemite crackers they might try to smuggle some home. I'd rather they smuggle home info about sexual assault though, so keep up the good work.

Marjorie I love to find other people dedicated to the cause. There's an emarch circulating for Take Back the Night (It's called Reclaim the Night here). It started as a blog here - check it out under mental health or enter "Take Back the Night" into our search button. Leave a comment for other women or legislators and send it widely. I know it's doing the rounds where I live because I keep getting calls from people saying it's a great idea. They won't join the site though and leave a comment. I don't know what else to do to raise awareness. One in three females sexually assaulted is intolerable but many people think that it will never touch their life.

I've just done a blog on the U.S ban of one of Australia's foods: "America Declares War on Black Australian History. World of War Kraft Kills Vegemite." The links within contains some groovy Aussie kids sites and games that may add to your Australian study. I was going to send you a jar of Vegemite for Christmas but I'll rethink that move now!

I've not seen Highlights magazine.

These are not so bizarre Myra, it happens all the time. What is bizarre is that we are all slow to report when we recognize the warning signs of abuse. Child abuse is a community responsibility. We all have a role to play in protecting children and blogs like yours are excellent in raising the profile of abuse. Keep it up Myra.

I liked this quote that I found on the Stop it now! website: "If you have any doubt in your mind, then there is no doubt you should speak up."

Go Marjorie. Lack of belief in yourself is a heinous villian that needs a good beating. Sucessful people (no, I'm not talking purely financial success) do not get that way by not believeing and striving for what they want to do. In Feb this year I quit from a job I love, and from a regular pay packet to pursue what I really wanted to do. I figure that on my death bed I'm not going to be saying, "Gee I wish I'd worked harder," so I changed the way I work. I still do what I love (sexual assault awareness raising) but I do it differently. Great blog.
