How's My Teen's Driving?

14 Oct 2006 04:30 PM

From a child protection point of view I think this is a great idea. The notion of "big brother is watching" or in this case, your parents are watching, is sitting uneasily with me. Despite this, child protection is more important than my views on trusting teens and helping them develop autonomy. Therefore, GREAT, I like the idea. Sure could have used this when my daughter drove my brand new car for the first time!!!!! Nobody had to ring and tell me about her driving though because I was in the car with her. THAT was her punishment! Have linked this to my favorite child focused article of the day.

Crazy Costume: Basket of Clothes

Cute idea for a fancy dress costume. I guess you could do something similar as a food hamper for a Christmas fancy dress too.

I look forward to the rest of the interview. I LOVE reading about other authors.

Out of the Box Halloween Costumes

Hey Nic. These are great ideas. I once dressed my son as a package holiday. We covered a large carboard box with travel brochures and tags. He wore the "package holiday" over his bike, and rode in the local parade. He won! Have linked this article to my favorite child focused blog of the day. Mxx

Just what is stress anyway?

13 Oct 2006 05:26 PM

Great blog. I always try to remember that "stressed", spelt backward, is "desserts". Therefore, it is a sign that eating dessert first is good for you. I get distressed when I cant fit dessert in after main course!!! Eating it first is a way to ensure a stress unload. My husband always laughs and thinks I'm just a pig (he's correct). Ahhh, cognitive dissonance and reframing is just soooo right for me sometimes.

What NOT To Sell On eBay

Oh dear. What is in some people's head? Fancy finding a mummified body and not contacting the authorities. Where have these people's personal ethics galloped off to?

The Deschooling Series: The Fallacy of Traditional School

12 Oct 2006 03:27 PM

As soon as I finish with the week's tasks, I'm going to be jumping into that forum. Natural Learning is an area I have been thrown into in order to best suit the needs of my child. The more people that participate in the forum the better for me. I am hungry to learn and my craving is for learning from other parents - not just research. See you in the forum over the weekend. M

Helping Kids Conquer Clutter

12 Oct 2006 06:37 AM

Oh how I laughed as I read this - my kids haven't got a chance of having a tidy room because I'm so messy I'd be the one to mess it up while I'm looking for something. I need those ideas for me Michele, not the kids!!! But, I still prefer the girlfriends club that you got started with a previous blog - you know, the one where we all agreed that we're messy - Conquering the clutter in time for the holidays.

Say So Long To Parking Tickets

12 Oct 2006 06:15 AM

Sounds like a novel idea. Wish they'd do it here. In my town you can get booked for feeding the metre every couple of hours (they still chalk the tyres, even though you park in a metred zone). I think it's a three hr limit that you can be parked in the one spot for. A pain in the rear!
