Introducing Animalle Mundo: A Doggie Love Hotel

Christmas might be a holiday for familial, not romantic, love, but with this notice you might have the time to start planning so your pet can have its romantic getaway.  That’s right, a romantic getaway for your pet.  If you’re trying to breed your dog and you want to do it in style, consider Animalle Mundo Pet.  It’s a hotel in Brazil, one that keeps in tradition with the country’s ritzy amorous motels.  The New York Times reports.

You can find short-stay hotels all over the world, but Brazil is a leader in both having them, and in making them fancy.  These aren’t the seedy pay-by-the-hour crumbling buildings one finds off of state highways in America; they’re more akin to gaudy Las Vegas-style monuments: rooms are bathed in warm reds, furniture and decorations come in the shape of hearts or are covered in roses, and the buildings are giant monuments themed as castles or ranches.

And now, there’s one for your pets in the Brazilian town of Belo Horizonte: Animalle Mundo Pet.  It’s like Brazil’s many other “pleasure palaces,” but it’s geared toward clientele of the four-legged variety.  The hotel offers a variety of services: dog-safe beef-flavored beer, a dog spa with a soaking tub, 35 staff members (in addition to on-call veterinarians), and soccer-themed doggie clothes.  The owners of Animalle Mundo also have a doggie café, a giant pet store selling items like a $40-dollar dog perfume, a pet taxi service, and more.

Of course, the primary service at the puppy love hotel is giving your dog and its partner somewhere luxurious and quiet to do the deed.  If it doesn’t take, or the two pups just aren’t that amorous for one another, Animalle Mundo provides another service: artificial insemination.

Apparently, that’s not all; in Brazil, a growing middle class is bringing more and more dogs into its homes, and it wants special pet services to go with it.  The country also boasts some public pet hospitals, and even surgeons that will provide Botox injections for dogs.

I knew that pet spending was on the rise, but this is just insane.  I don’t know if my brain can handle it all.  It’s still trying to wrap itself around the idea of a love hotel for dogs, let alone perfume, Botox, and artificial insemination.  Yes, our pets are part of our family, but none of these are things I would do for myself, let alone my dog.  I suppose if they’re luxuries on which one would splurge for oneself, I can sort of see how one would do it for a beloved dog as well.

What do you think?  Is this totally crazy?  Or would you be curious to check out the Animalle Mundo Pet?
