06 Feb 2009 03:52 AM An Odyssey in the Psalms: Psalm 16When we are reading this psalm, in between lines, we can perceive what the communion of Jesus with his Celestial Father had to be.What David felt in his soul, was of the same nature of what Jesus actually lived. It is to what God is inviting us to, his arms wide open: to have communion with us, to be in complete relation with us, just the way He was with Jesus. Our choices in life and in actions will determine the dept of this relation.
The more we choose to have a life put apart for God (a sanctified live) more we will taste the joy of his presence in our homes, the peace of heart in time of trouble, the strength and compassion in our time of intercession, the courage and boldness to spread the good news in Jesus Christ, to those near us.
The decision of putting ourselves aside for God will permit the Spirit of grace in us, to touch and quench the souls that are thirsty of justice and peace and love. A Miktam of David. 1 Preserve me, O God, for in you I take refuge. This reflex should be ours. Is it the case for you, friends and readers? In all time we should search refuge in our God , and ask him His direction, His support, what could contribute to keep our souls in peace. 2 I say to the LORD, "You are my Lord; I have no good apart from you."
3 As for the saints in the land, they are the excellent ones, in whom is all my delight.
Is it the same for the peoples of our community ? Are we full of this affection that characterize us as a Christian assembly or our assembly is only a center of social meeting , for those who share the same faith, the same needs. Is our community open to outsiders or are we please only in our little circle . Do we want our community to make bigger the family and to go to the help of the lost sheep that wonder here and there in route of perdition? An honest answer to these questions will tell us the dept of our relation with our Master . The more solid our relation with our Redemptor, more his desires, his needs will become ours. 4 The sorrows of those who run after another god shall multiply ; their drink offerings of blood I will not pour out or take their names on my lips. Seeing them running after the favor of false gods , and putting their confidence in dreams, why not go ahead and present them the Real and faithful God, with whom our life is full and plenty. 5 The LORD is my chosen portion and my cup; you hold my lot. 8 I have set the LORD always before me; because he is at my right hand, I shall not be shaken. 9 Therefore my heart is glad, and my whole being rejoices; my flesh also dwells secure. 10 For you will not abandon my soul to Sheol, or let your holy one see corruption. 11 You make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore . Do we have this assurance in our heart ? Are we enjoying an intimate and close relation with our God: with a joyful heart, and a spirit full of liveliness. Have we let God be our counsellor? Are we permitting him to exhort us? To be at our right: symbolizing that we abandon everything under his control? Prayer “ Lord, now that I am at your feet and receiving your words of love, I would like to give you this day, this evening and put everything into your hands. I want to look not upon the anguish of my soul, but on the beauty of you fidelity. Thank you for being there, thank you for choosing me and for your calling.” Have a good week -end !
