09 Feb 2009 04:54 AM An Odyssey in the Psalms: Psalm 17At the beginning of this psalm, we face amazing statements : A prayer of David. 1 Hear a just cause, O Lord; How could David dare tell the Lord his God that listening to his prayer was listening righteousness, a just cause?2 From your presence let my vindication comes! Let your eyes behold the right! Like David, can we tell our God we are upright in our walk with Him? What we tell Him, ask from him, is it said without deceit, duplicity? 3 You have tried my heart, you have visited me by night, you have tested me, and you will find nothing; I have purposed that my mouth will not transgress. The good person out of the good treasure of his heart produces good, and the evil person out of his evil treasure produces evil, for out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks. Luke6:45 Have you ever stopped on the utterances that come out of your mouth? Take for example yesterday, what was in your sayings? Have they been a source of blessings for your close relations, your neighbours, your work colleagues? 4 With regard to the works of man, by the word of your lips I have avoided the ways of the violent. 5 My steps have held fast to your paths; my feet have not slipped. 6 I call upon you, for you will answer me, O God; Here is a direct consequence of living consecrated to God: By staying faithful to God’s word, by avoiding the way of the wicked, our christian walk will proceed without weakness on the paths of righteousness. Our determination to please God will keep us from numerous traps from the ennemy. We will have an answer to our prayers, for we will remain pleasant to our God. And whatever we ask we receive from him, because we keep his commandments and do what pleases him.(1 John 3:22 Equip you with everything good that you may do his will, working in us[ a ] that which is pleasing in his sight, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory forever and ever. Amen. Hebrews 3 :21 6 …Incline your ear to me; hear my words. 7 Wondrously showyour steadfast love, O Savior of those who seek refuge from their adversaries at your right hand. 8 Keep me as the apple of your eye; hide me in the shadow of your wings, 9 from the wicked who do me violence, my deadly enemies who surround me. 10 They close their hearts to pity; with their mouths they speak arrogantly. 11 They have now surrounded our steps; they set their eyes to cast us to the ground. 12 He is like a lion eager to tear, as a young lion lurking in ambush. 13Arise, O Lord! Confront him, subdue him! Deliver my soul from the wicked by your sword, 14from men by your hand, O Lord, from men of the world whose portion is in this life. You fill their womb with treasure; they are satisfied with children, and they leave their abundance to their infants. 15As for me, I shall behold your face in righteousness; when I awake, I shall be satisfied with your likeness. The men of this world, the wicked of this world of darkness, the Prince of the Air with his hords of demonic spirits have but one goal when they meet a man, a woman born again: to floor him, to bury his “smell of death” because our good deeds, the way we are since we have been saved is disgusting to them. For we are the aroma of Christ to God among those who are being saved and among those who are perishing, 16to one a fragrance from death to death, to the other a fragrance from life to life. Who is sufficientfor these things? 2 Cor 2 :15 -16 This explains the many vivid reactions that can arise from our lifestyle. We have the opportunity, the blessing to relate to our God everyday, and this from the morning. Do we seize this legitimity everyday? Men and women of this world, who are not renewed by the Word of Life do not obtain what life can bring to them, and after that, an eternity of shame awaits them, unless they repent. As born-again christians, we have access to the life of abundancy in God. Does it mean that our attics should overflow with terrestrial treasures? What will be at the end of our life? How do we evaluate our free access to the throne of grace? If we could change it for money, how much would we ask? As for me, I believe we will grab the fullness of this wonderful salvation in Jesus Christ when we are sitted at the table of the marriage of the lamb. Now, we know in part by the grace of God, in our individual and community worship times. 7 Let us rejoice and exult and give him the glory for the marriage of the Lamb has come, and his Bride has made herself ready; 8 it was granted her to clothe herself with fine linen, bright and pure for the fine linen is the righteous deeds of the saints. 9 And the angel said to me, "Write this: Blessed are those who are invited to the marriage supper of the Lamb." And he said to me, "These are the true words of God." Revelation 19:7-9 May it give us the determination to continue till the end! Prayer : “ Thank you Lord for simply being there, by my side. I know that You prepared for my relatives and I, a life of abundancy and an eternity of happiness. What I ask you today, is to be a little more like you!” Have a nice week in His presence!
