Giving In to Everything a Child Wants - Blog Entry

I agree with you. I know way too many "brats" because they are never told "no". These kids and adolescents are unbearable to be around. My family says I am strict because I tell my kids no on several occasions when they think I should let them do or get what they want. I tell them that I am not being "strict"...I am being a good parent. If my children want that cookie, they have to eat all their dinner. If my children want that new bike, they have to prove to me they are responsible enough to have it. I don't just give them what they want all the time. They have to work for it. Sometimes it's just a plain and simple "no". I never give in to temper tantrums and I sure don't let them drag me into arguments. They have learned that what I say is what I mean and that's how it's going to be. Too many parents nowadays let their children parent them.

Don't Give Your Children Everything - Blog Entry

I completely agree with you. My kids have more than I did when I was younger, but not as much as some of the kids they are around do. I don't believe in spoiling them. Spoiling them with material things and letting them get their way all the time also spoils the soul. Great article. I have to pass this along to some women I know!
