I'm a stepmom, and the kids' mom and dad attended Parent Effectiveness Training when the oldest was a todler. They both found it very helpful, and the kids are empathetic, warm, considerate people. The oldest is a teenager now, and the youngest is a preteen, and they are a joy to live with. When I realized my relationship with my now-husband was going to be serious, I read the P.E.T. book, too, so I could be on the same page parenting-wise. I definitely recommend it.
