Should Your Child Still Be In A Booster Seat? - Blog Entry

19 Sep 2008 01:42 PM

I appreciate you're write up. My (almost 8 year old) daughter, just today, asked me to look up the requirements on booster seats. Her 9 year old friend has been recently riding with her to school, and her 9 year old friend told her she doesn't need to use a booster seat anymore.

I live in Arizona, but I've been back East and have seen those billboards you talk about and they got me thinking too.

After reading your post, I think we'll just not worry about any regulations, and keep our daughter tucked safely in the booster seat until she's big enough to fit in a seat with a seat buckle appropriately. No harm in being "over" cautious on this one, if there is such a thing.

You should have seen my daughter's look on her face, when I was measuring her, as she tilted her head upward to see just how much more she'd need to grow to make 4'9".

I feel for her though. She just wants to be "grown up". But being grown up is also exercising good judgement in being "safe".
