I was being very careful on how I wanted to spend my money. I found 10 folders for 10 cents or 1 cent for one folder. Ah yes finally something worth buying. I went to the cashier, she rung me up and said, "uh that will be 10 cents." She kind of looked at the register kind of crazy and then me and I told her that was right. lol What a great feeling. lol Laura Avoid the Gas Gouge - Blog Entry05 Aug 2007 01:25 PM My dh works in NJ and gas is about 15 cents cheaper than it is in PA. But he discovered years ago to drive about a mile down the road and you can save about 5 cents per gallon. Amazing!! Laura Budget Baking Substitutions - Blog Entry05 Aug 2007 01:21 PM Thanks for that! I always seem to run out of brown sugar. Laura The Frugal Washing Machine - Blog Entry31 Jul 2007 06:55 AM I also use less detergent then what is recommended. I have never had any problems getting stains out either. Laura The McMansion Phenomena - Blog Entry31 Jul 2007 06:53 AM This is a good thought provoking question Mary Ann. My dh and I have been thinking over how big or small we would like our next house to be. Many people aren't content where God has them and that is where our struggle has been w/ moving. We want to be content wherever God has us, but at the same time a second bathroom would be nice so that the six of us that live here won't have to wait in such a long to go potty. ;o) So my opinion is that lack on contentment and filling voids in our lives w/ stuff instead of the Lord. Good question. Laura The Frugal Washing Machine - Blog Entry30 Jul 2007 05:44 AM I never pre-treat any of our clothes b/c I use Tide. lol It works great in getting old stains out. I had a white shirt that had Children's Motrin on it for 5 days. I threw it in the washer w/ Tide, pulled it out and no sign of the Motrin. Tide is expensive but it saves me time and money. Laura Frugal Summer Cooling - Blog Entry12 Jul 2007 12:53 PM I usually will keep the blinds pulled on the side of the house that is getting the sun. It does help a bit. In the summer we generally have a $300 plus electric/gas bill. We try and only turn the A/C on when it is going to be very hot. Laura Is Bigger Always Better? - Blog Entry12 Jul 2007 12:49 PM My dh has always been a firm believer in checking unit prices and then comparing. I sometimes forget about that. lol Thanks for the reminder. Laura How to Boil An Egg - Blog Entry10 Jul 2007 09:11 AM Thanks for the tip! My eggs are sometimes very hard to peel.
