When Do You Turn on Your Air Conditioning?

05 Jun 2008 03:09 AM

I tend to be "cheap" about our A/C and my husband is the opposite of me. ;o) We have central A/C so its pretty easy to turn on, flip that switch. I generally won't turn the A/C on till Memorial Day and like to have it off for the season by Labor Day. Its so nice to not have a few months of no heat and no A/C. I do agree with about having the heat on 2 weeks ago and today my area is looking at a heat wave. Ugh! I am just not ready for this. lol Laura

Save on Home Cooling 2

29 May 2008 04:16 AM

My dad worked with no A/C at all. When he got home from work he never wanted the A/C on b/c he felt his body would get to used to the coolness of it. He doesn't even use the A/C when he drives for that reason. lol My hubby on the other hand has no A/C at work and when its hot out he wants a nice cool home. ;o) Okay that was probably to much information. I always like to shop the outlets, but they are pretty far from our house. You can get some pretty good deals. Laura

American Flag Etiquette

27 May 2008 01:38 PM

I grew up in a military home, so to speak. Dad was in the PA National Guard and in the Army Reserves. When we wanted to fly the flag, he made sure we knew it had to be taken down in the evening, and we weren't allowed to put the flag out in the rain. Also, if we wanted to leave it out at night you needed a spotlight on it. When flags got old dad burned them, even to this day. Laura

Mary Ann, I am wondering if the pot pies didn't have MSG. It sure does make food taste good. Laura

Emergency Meal Stretching 2

You've pretty much covered most of my thoughts. Stir fries are a nice idea when you get tired of stews, etc. I always throw a chicken in the crock pot and make stock the next day for chicken noodle soup. When I have soup as a main entree I like to make bread or have a salad with it. Laura

I tend to cook this way most nights. Its just much more affordable to cook the way you've mentioned. Laura
