Mary Ann - I have really been working hard at being frugal - I call it a money diet. Your column here helps. I have started using more store brands and organized my coupons and am really thinking about everything. I don't smoke or drink - but not for frugal reasons.

great tips! another banana tip - is when they are past their prime - i peel them and put them in the freezer... it's great for making banana bread or a banana shake! yummy!

i think this is an interesting idea - and I like it. Problem is - now I am so programmed to saving anywhere between $10 and $30 per grocery order - I don't think of it as paying myself.

we have bundled our internet, cable and phone - and a lot of carriers offer deep discounts for the first year. Definately worth investigating. Also, with cell phones - it's worth the ten minutes to call your carrier every six months to make sure your plan works for your usage.
