I live in Sweden Ed, no walk-in doctors, no Y, nothing. I could of course pay for a peronalized nutrition specialist visit - but just to get weighed every week, seems a bit like overkill! Same scales used every week is usually good enough indication that things are going in right direction even if not 100% accurate for the exact weight! And actually, come to think about it, I get weighed at the hospital quite a bit for my different medical problems, and our scales are usually only about 1 lb different to theirs (theirs are kinder LOL!). I guess you just have to go on what works for you - and for me, this works just fine, for the moment. Momma's on a Diet: Exercise Worries - Blog Entry17 Feb 2007 01:56 PM Hi Lashell, nope physician is still not wanting to diagnose with CFS/CFIDS yet - I'm under the neurologist at the moment and whilst he admits I fit the criteria, he thinks it's something else so is continuing to test. He does say however that he acknowledges the problem I have with being motivated to lose weight but how the chronic fatigue is a big obstacle for me! Whilst his words are comforting, I'm an action person, I'd much prefer real advice! LOL Thanks for your kind words, I'm going to try dong "something" because something's better than nothing right? LOL Thanks for dropping by! 3 Ways to Cut Costs on your Disney World Family Vacation - Blog Entry16 Feb 2007 02:01 AM Thank you so much for your comment! You can't beat first hand experience with these things - what looks good sometimes isn't, and similarly what looks expensive, can actually save you money. This is an invaluable comment! Thanks again for sharing it. "Cars" is Breeding in my Home! - Blog Entry10 Feb 2007 09:09 AM LOL Libby. Mine don't act out the Cars movie but they do act out the Polar Express. Our car IS the Polar Express (actually it's probably about the same age...ahem) when they're both in it! Funny how they get so latched onto these movies isn't it? Looking for my waist: Chronic Under Eating - Blog Entry09 Feb 2007 03:04 AM Andrea, I know exactly what you mean. I'm lucky if I manage to get 2 meals a day and I don't snack much - maybe 1 cookie a day IF we have them - and yet I'm hugely overweight. Now I'm back on weight watchers and having to eat my points and I'm losing weight. Bodies are strange things! LOL 3 Ways to Cut Costs on your Disney World Family Vacation - Blog Entry08 Feb 2007 11:33 PM 7 kids under 8? Hmmm - I think you're one very brave lady! Keeping track of 2 under 6 is enough for me. I don't know about teacher discount, but I'll have a look around and see what I can find out. Dad's Losing It - An Introduction - Blog Entry06 Feb 2007 12:12 PM Hi Jeff, welcome to the weight loss wagon. May you stay on it until the successful end of your pound shedding journey. Katie-Anne (Momma's on a Diet!) Momma's on a Diet: Weigh In: Week 1 - Blog Entry06 Feb 2007 02:50 AM Thanks! Just hope it continues. It's encouraging though. I've twice started a diet in the past year and each time have lost only half a pound in the first week - not exactly good motivation as this is supposed to be the "big" lose time. With the pounds lost this week, I'm real psyched up to keep going - even if next week is a low loss to compensate. Why Are Families Getting Smaller? Is Corporate America To Blame? - Blog Entry02 Feb 2007 01:42 AM I live in Sweden and although the UK is "ok" on maternity leave with 3 months paid manditory, Sweden was a revelation. Here a baby has 2 parents and the country has both parents on paid leave the week the baby is born. Then there is approximately one year of paid leave which is up to the parents to decide which parent will be the stay at home parent during that time - however the other parent MUST take one month of paid leave to do parenting things during that time. If a child is sick, and one of the parents must stay home from work, then they get money from the Government. As for breastfeeding, it's a natural thing here to see a woman discreeting feeding her baby wherever she happens to be - in a restaurant, on a seat in the mall, wherever. Having said all that however, Sweden is still constantly failing to meet its population targets because like the US, families are getting smaller - despite the fact that there are financial incentives for having 3+ children such as additional child benefit, and discounted childcare. All child healthcare is free here so that isn't an issue. |
