Meteorological spring begins this Friday; unfortunately, most of the nation still looks and feels like the dead of winter. While you may be itching to tiptoe through the tulips, Mother Nature clearly has other ideas.
To help pass the time while waiting for the spring thaw, channel your warm thoughts into spring-themed scrapbook layouts. There are a slew of simple and affordable ways you can create page designs that pay homage to the first season of the year. For example, rather than purchasing apple stickers to embellish a chalk-drawn tree, add red buttons instead. The accents add texture and dimension and can also be used for the center of flowers on a spring layout. Another seasonal touch is to replace die cut letters with wood grain ones. Doing so adds to the outdoorsy feel of a spring-themed layout.
One of my young daughter’s favorite spring activities is puddle-jumping. April showers bring May flowers, so why not highlight the rain in a positive light. You can use blue tissue paper to mimic water or mix-and-match colors found on your child’s raincoat with elements you are planning to use on your page design. Spray dyes also work well to add pops of color to a layout.
Finally, you could design a pretty journaling block complete with flowers swirled with embroidery floss to document your thoughts on the season. If you can’t think of anything profound to say about spring, consider using the following famous quotes:
