The way we view food is mixed up. I love food and when someone puts a piece of cheesecake in front of me, I dive for a fork. But I only take 2 bites. There is nothing wrong with food, it's just my response to it. I know that when I get stressed, I eat more (and more of the wrong stuff). I have had to train myself to look at food as fuel for my body. If I want the best out of my body, I need to put the best in. Restaurants don't make it any easier, but ultimately I have to make the choice on what goes in. Does Television Influence Children's Nutrition?13 Mar 2007 05:09 PM I saw some statistics the other day that suggested that this generation of children is the first generation that may not outlive their parents. That's scary. TV is not evil, but sometimes it's so easy. I find myself zoning out in front of the TV sometimes. I have had to cut back cable time. If I sit down to watch, it's always something that I can stop and start again later. I think that 2 hours a day is too much! Oh For a Celebrity Body!13 Mar 2007 04:58 PM Thank you. There are so many people who are tied up in the images they see on TV and in the magazines. We need to hear more often that it's ok not to look like that. It may or may not be a great lifestyle for them, but we have our own lives to worry about. And many blessings we'd miss if we aren't paying attention to the important things. I've given up on weekend-warrior excercising and stressful diets. I walk. I walk with my dog (who's happier now) and my wife. And we've lost weight and feel better too! |
