I found help with tantrums

So obviously toddlers and preschoolers have tantrums. And they do so often because they are not getting what they want. Sometimes it's over things you as a mom can kind of understand and sometimes it's about eating with a red spoon instead of the blue one you provided her. So why do the latter ones happen? Well, mainly its a control issue. When babies are little they have no control and they arent aware of it and they dont care. But as a toddler develops, he/she begins to notice that control is what gets you what you want. And then they see that they have none. Everything they do is up to what the grown up says. So they begin to attempt to challenge this control. they want to see what they can affect...even down to the color of their spoon. I found that my daughter, at 2 yrs old, was challenging me by resisting the morning routines I tried to get her to follow (typical habits like get dressed, brush teeth and eat breakfast before we move on with playing) and with when the tv would go on and off and when bedtime was. Most moms of a strong willed toddler can probably relate to me. Well there is a product out there called an Activity Clock, made by schkidules and it gave me back my sanity and my smile. It a picture board that communicates the things you do everyday with your child but does it in a way that the kid likes and makes then feel in control so they dont tend to have as many tantrums over some of the most benign things. What was really amazing was that she was so excited to go see what's next on the board ( and move the arrow) that she actually had no problem when it was time to turn off the tv and move on to the next activity. She ALWAYS had a tantrum when I told her no more TV until I hung this thing on my wall. Well worth any mom to check out. They have other product too but it's the activity clock that I am so thankful for. their website is www.schkidules.com
