Marriage Types: Choosing Childfree - Blog Entry

I agree with both of you. If you really want children the joy and love that htey bring to your life makes the worries well worth it. However if you do not want children, I can see how perhaps it wouldn't seem worth the effort to go through all of those things. It is all in ones perferences and personal interests. I cannot imagine my life without children. And yes they do consume msot of my life and my marraige at times. My husband an I have choosen to make them a priority now. While we still work on enriching our relationship, we will spend our "carefree" time together after the children are grown. Thanks to both of you!

Marriage Types: Choosing Childfree - Blog Entry

Jade Walker, thanks for your comment. After reading it I researched more into the definitions of childless and childfree. I found that basically they have the same meaning but they are used based on a personal decision and perference. Many couples who can have children prefer to use childfree because it is a more positive term rather than childless (which many feel indicates a void or absence of something by the suffix "less"). In respect to those that choose not to have children and feel that the word childless bestows a negative attitude on their relationship, I have chagned my term. Thanks for the insight! Also check back later for more info and a look into a proposed book Childless by Choice; Love, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness by Laura S. Scott (who considers herself childless by choice).
