It was an experience we won't forget anytime soon. Being a Mother Bear - Blog Entry11 Jan 2007 11:13 PM I had a mad papa bear, too. He was always ready to "rip someone asunder" who had wronged me. (Not literally.) I loved that he was always on my side, but sometimes I would avoid telling him things because I didn't want to unleash the bear. Loved both of your comments, thanks! ADHD and Medication: Finding the Right Dose - Blog Entry04 Jan 2007 08:55 AM My oldest stepdaughter tried Strattera and it made her nauseated every morning. The doctor suggested she take an antacid with it. So she was taking medication to help her take her medication. And still she was queasy and throwing up in the morning. Not a good situation. We stopped the Strattera, and went to Adderall, which has had terrific results for both my stepdaughters, and no nausea. I've heard glowing stories of Strattera and Concerta from other people, but Adderall worked best in our case. I think that's what's tricky here--every child will respond differently to different meds. All we can do is make conservative guesses until we find the right fit. ADHD and Medication: Finding the Right Dose - Blog Entry04 Jan 2007 12:52 AM I'd love to hear how things go at the new private school. Thanks so much for your comments! A Toast to Parents of Special Needs Kids - Blog Entry31 Dec 2006 10:01 PM It's bottled water for me, too. I guess that probably "clunks" instead of "clinks." HA! Does Your Child Feel Important? - Blog Entry29 Dec 2006 09:26 PM If you watch this documentary, you'll be convinced. I was a conspiracy theorist myself until I saw this DVD. It shows exactly where the shots came from according to the precise positions of the president and the Governor....using computer technology we never had access to before. With digital technology we're now able to "see" the assassination from all sides at any location. It's truly amazing. Anyway, you've got to see it to know what I mean. The movie also explains facts about Oswald that most people didn't know... viewers are able to follow his entire life with interviews from family members and friends who knew him. His brother says, "It is my belief--my conviction--that no one but Lee was involved." Everyone who knew Lee Harvey Oswald agrees that he acted alone, based upon his overarching desire to "change the world" and be important. The American people keep grasping onto conspiracy theories because the idea that some misfit could kill our president seems outrageous. We want to add weight to the Oswald side of the scale to make it seem more balanced, so Kennedy could die for something. And besides, in forty years, not a single soul has ever come forward to confess to any role or knowledge of a conspiracy. Anyway... can you tell I'm enthusiastic about that DVD? Ha! But I truly did find it interesting that his mother was so dismissive and unkind, and how that impacted his need for attention. Sherry, I truly appreciate your comments! Pets and Cold Weather - Blog Entry21 Dec 2006 11:02 AM Awesome, Aimee. Thanks. Still wish my dog would actually use his igloo. Sigh. Forgiving Those Who've Hurt Us - Blog Entry18 Dec 2006 01:44 PM I think strangers are easier to forgive. There's no expectation there. But people you have a relationship with you expect to behave in a caring, compassionate way. It is really disillusioning to see that people you thought you knew, and who you thought loved you, never really cared as much as you assumed. That's an awful reality to be faced with. Sometimes tough situations help reveal who our true friends and family really are. Michele... I really appreciate you taking time to comment. Thank you! 10 Fun Facts about It's A Wonderful Life - Blog Entry16 Dec 2006 12:14 PM My three-year-old daughter's nickname is "ZuZu" because of this movie. It's a true classic. |
