That’s a jaw-dropping deal considering the average Big Apple hotel room runs roughly $300 per night. What’s more, with the stunning fireworks displays that explode over the Statue of Liberty and light up the Manhattan skyline, there’s no place like New York City to celebrate the Fourth of July.
HotelTonight is also predicting big Independence Day sales for other popular tourist hot spots, including Miami, Austin, Chicago and New Orleans. The company claims you can save up to 65% on some rooms; however, there is a catch. In order to secure the fabulous money-saving deals you have to take a leap of faith. HotelTonight doesn’t offer the cheap rooms until noon on the same day you can get into them. That means you have to be in the city featuring the deal in order to take advantage of the radically reduced room rates. On the bright side, HotelTonight actually lets you see the hotel before booking, unlike other travel sites like Priceline.
If you are not fast enough to scoop up a Fourth of July deal, travel experts say there are still a few ways to save on summer hotel stays. The easiest is to spend Sunday night, which remains the cheapest day for hotels, thanks to business travelers avoiding the weekends to take a work trip. Also, most leisure travelers don’t want to burn a vacation day staying over until Monday, leaving hotels to slash prices for Sunday night guests.
