Let’s Make 2013 a Great Year for Getting Out of Debt!

geting out of debt in the new yearHappy New Year! I just know that 2013 will be a great year for getting out of debt. We can do this. Let’s size up our debt and then knock it down little by little until we end the year richer and more financially stable. It may take a little sacrifice, but it can be a lot of fun, too. Getting out of debt is going to be a fantastic New Year’s Resolution that will help us make some real progress for our family.

Don’t Worry about the Past

We may have made some wrong choices along the way, but it is time to let those choices go and not get stuck with them. Instead, the past will stay in the past, and we will approach our debt with new eyes. Instead of berating or being afraid to face your debt, go in with the attitude of solving the problem. View the debt not as something personal, but more of a work challenge. Make good choices going forward and let go of the past.

Make Getting Out of Debt a Daily Choice

Each morning when you wake up, ask yourself, “What will I do today to get out of debt?” Some days may be more productive than others, but make working toward eliminating your debt a daily choice and a daily priority. You might walk to work instead of using gas, hang the laundry instead of using the dryer, make a phone call to lower your insurance, cable, phone or other monthly expense, sell some items on eBay, get a part-time job, read an inspirational blog about getting out of debt, clip coupons, repair instead of replace an item, take a get out of debt class, or use monetary gifts to pay off your smallest debt. Just make a commitment to do something each day.

I’m looking forward to hearing about your stories and your successes. Please take some time to visit the Families.com Facebook page and tell me how you are doing along the way.
