Many people do not understand the extent to which one needs to go to avoid cross contamination when it comes to Celiac Disease. Separate utensils, toasters, butter, condiments, strainers, waffle irons, cutting boards, even mixers are necessary. We had to replace all porous pot and pans - nothing with a coating from pre-Dx. You cannot assume that anyone else has taken the necessary precautions to ensure your safety. (As you can tell, this is near and dear to my heart) DS was Dx'd with Celiac about 8 months ago, weeks after he turned 2) Simple Tips for Dealing with an Allergy in Marriage - Blog Entry30 Jan 2009 12:16 PM Any hints on the Christmas Cake recipe??? I have to admit, I have not yet done much in the way of baking since DS's Dx. But I have grand plans to do so. I used to bake a ton! (One of the things DH misses so much!) As for Pasta dishes, I don't bother with two different kinds. I just use GF across the board. I don't want to worry about cross contamination with the strainer, etc. And DS wants everything everybody else has, (It doesn't matter if he is eating the same thing - he want's to try yours!) Seven Habits That Will Harm Your Marriage - Blog Entry29 Jan 2009 08:33 AM Mary Ann, Interesting. Fairly obvious, but sometimes we need to be reminded of these things. I assume you have read this book. Would you recommend it? Weddings: Putting All That Planning Into Perspective - Blog Entry11 Dec 2008 08:46 AM Married 9 years, answered all 20 questions. (Most were N/A. No china - we registered for everyday place settings and use them still every single day! No ring-bearer. We had flowers on the cake and did not keep them.) I remember everthing. It's a curse. Christmas Cookie Balls - Blog Entry10 Dec 2008 08:18 AM Yay! Gluten Free Peanut Butter Balls! Thanks! What kind of choc? milk? semi-sweet? dark? or it is all a matter of taste? Fun Fall Crafts for Preschoolers: Homemade Trees - Blog Entry04 Nov 2008 07:48 AM Thanks! I am going to try some variation of this with my 2-yr old. I'll end up doing most of it, I am sur3. But he should have a great time showing Daddy what he made. LOL Your Baby's Vocabulary - Blog Entry12 Sep 2008 08:20 AM Oh so True! My two year old surprises me everyday with the things that come out of his mouth. There are those words that sound like less flattering words: "sock", "sit", "truck", "frog" (those last two sound like the same unflattering word...) It cracks me up because I soooo want him to pronounce the word "lizard" as 'wizard', cuz I think that is the cutest thing ever! But he won't even attempt it when I ask him. But he doesn't not hesitate to say 'excavator'! All boy! Dora the Explorer is Getting a Makeover: What's a Parent to do? - Blog Entry29 Aug 2008 05:39 AM Agreed... I don't think it will fly. Dora is supposed to be for pre-schoolers. I don't see a 6 or 8 yr old watching. I think they're making a mistake. If they make her more 'girlie' then they may lose their pre-school male audience. DS doesn't like princesses. If he did, I'd let him watch. He does watch Dora and Diego probably because they are more asexual. Beijing 2008 Summer Olympics Are Frugal - Blog Entry08 Aug 2008 07:44 AM Will be curious to see how much revenue they take in and if it exceeds the $2 billion outlay. |
