The Lost Art of Letter Writing

Have we forgotten how to write letters? People used to write long, newsy, heartfelt letters to each other. Card companies and stationers created beautiful cards and elegant stationery for people to write on. Lately, it seems the only letter that I receive are from elderly relatives. 

Has e-mail, text messaging, instant messaging, and blogging robbed us of this piece of our past?

I, for one, sincerely hope not.
