Do You Still Wear Lingerie?

05 Nov 2007 08:58 PM

I agree! Granted I've only been married 3.5 years and only have one child (so far) but after DS goes to bed I have been known to change into lingerie for DH. My post-baby body may not be what it used to be, but the way he sees it--that body carried and breastfed his son--very attractive, despite it's "imperfections"

I LOVE lingerie, but it is rather expensive. A cheaper alternative I've found is going to Ross, Marshalls, etc and buying "teeny bopper" clothes that are too low and too short for public. I wear them around the house after DS goes to bed while folding laundry, doing dishes, etc. I may be doing mundane "Mom" chores, but I'm also allowing DH to see more of my body than he otherwise would.

Lauren and Jason: When "The" Ex Proposes to Someone Else

17 Oct 2007 04:18 PM

I have been in Lauren's shoes and while I wouldn't have said "I'm glad that's not me" (it would've been more accurate if I'd asked "Why not me?") I was generally happy for my friend. His wife is now a good friend of mine (and I only talk to him when he answers the phone!) and I'm married to a wonderful man and have a darling little boy. I attended his wedding and a few months later I met the man I would marry (my guy friend even sang at our wedding!)

It was funny--I was really nervous about attending their wedding because while I had thought I was over him, I didn't know how I'd feel seeing him get married to someone else (there was definitely a period of time I thought we'd end up married to each other). To be honest, it was like attending the wedding of any of my girlfriends--I was generally happy for him and there was no "I wish it were me" or any other thoughts of jealousy/regret/whatever. By the time his marriage rolled around I was generally over him and my feelings had moved to platonic.

God Centeredness in a Post 9-11 World

12 Sep 2007 08:23 AM

In addition to my full-time job as a flight attendant I was working part-time at a Christian bookstore on September 11. I wasn't flying that day, so I was at the bookstore.

Not many people came into the store that day (and we ended up closing at 6 so the employees could go to prayer services at local churches), but one lady bought a wall hanging or something (I don't remember exactly), but it had the verse "This is the day that the Lord has made. Rejoice and be glad" (my paraphrase). Anyway, as I was ringing this item up it reminded me--no matter how bad our circumstances are, God is God and we should rejoice because today IS a day He has made!

People kept saying (and still do) that the world changed that day. I don't think it did. The world was an evil, fallen place before September 11, 2001 and it still is. The world didn't change--our perception did.

Obviously, for the victims and their families, their world has been changed forever. I'm not trying to say it wasn't, I'm just saying the entire world didn't change that day.

MTV VMA Awards: Oh My!

10 Sep 2007 08:27 AM

I'll admit I didn't watch the video, but I saw a still photo on foxnews.com's front page last night. What I thought was interesting was the AP article commented on how out of shape she is. Granted, she's not what she was when she was 16, but the girl has had two kids! Yes, she opened herself up by basically wearing a bra and underwear, but I've only had 1 kid and would love to look like that!

While I'm not a fan, and am not terribly surprised to hear her "comeback" last night was a flop, I think the criticism should be directed at the performance!

I was just saddened that a main-stream media outlet would stoop that low. I would expect it from Entertainment Tonight, TMZ, or the like, but oh well!

Ask a Baby Blogger: Breastfeeding In Front of Older Children

23 Aug 2007 04:04 PM

When I was 10 or 11 my piano teacher had just had her 7th baby and in the middle of my lesson (she taught at her home) her baby was hungry and it was time to feed him. She was an extremely sweet lady and she just said politely "The baby's hungry and I need to feed him. You're old enough now to know that a woman's body was made for more than the cover of a magazine" That was 20 years ago and I've never forgotten that comment (obviously!)

What a great thing to teach your sons about respecting a woman's body (and think of the benefits for your future grandchildren when your sons say to their wives "Breastfeeding is the best thing for our children and I support you 100%")

Breastfeeding and Jury Duty

17 Aug 2007 03:03 AM

I got called in March, when my son was 6.5 months old and nursing full-time. I am a stay-at-home Mom (my husband had to take a vacation day for me to go that day) and I told that to the judge.

While I was waiting to be called, and going through the selection process, I pumped every two hours. Though not ideal, there was a place (with a door I could lock) to pump and then wash up afterwards. Once in the courtroom itself I pumped in the bailiffs office. I had done research online regarding my state and county prior to arriving that day so I knew what to expect and how to make sure I pumped.
