G Magazine – A Cute Ad From Geico

Lately, it seems like insurance companies have been putting a lot of effort into creating advertisements that will really catch the attention of potential customers. My husband found one from Geico in our mailbox today. It looks like a cute little magazine. It is inevitable that you will find a certain amount of “junk mail” waiting for you when you go to empty your mailbox each day. For us, this generally consists of an batch of advertisements, much like one would find placed inside a newspaper. We don’t actually have any subscriptions to newspapers though, so it is somewhat strange … Continue reading

How to Save on Magazines, Books and Newspapers

While going through our monthly budget, my husband and I filled out responses to standard budget categories, such as food, clothing, etc. One of the entries was for magazine subscriptions. Anyone looking around our house would think that we pay a fortune for magazines (and books). I’m continually working on paring down the number of magazines that come and stay in our house. Most of us are great readers and will resort to reading toothpaste tubes if we must, so this isn’t easy (but that is a subject for the Home blog). We also tend to have at least one … Continue reading

Magazine Deals, and All You

Finding coupons in magazines is nothing new. Magazines in your supermarket that focus on home and family have always featured coupons in their advertising. The absolute best magazine for coupon finds is All You, available by subscription, or for purchase at Walmart. All You typically features over $100 worth of coupons. This month’s June issue has a total coupon savings of $112.55. Many of the coupons featured are high value, $1.00 or more. When did you ever see a $3 coupon on Equal? That value jumps right out at me. The magazine itself is a good resource for frugal practices, … Continue reading

Magazines, who doesn’t love them? Many have coupons and promotions that help save money on all areas of our lives. They are filled with wonderful ideas on how to make life more enjoyable. With this magazine, you don’t have to worry about billing or canceling. They will only send you the four issues. More is offering a one year subscription at startsampling.com. You can also click here to subscribe as well. I have … Continue reading

Scrapbook Trends Magazine – The Details

This is one unique scrapbooking magazine put out by Northridge Media and has quickly become a popular choice for many scrapbookers. The entire Northridge Media group of magazines has gained an immense following in the past year within the scrapbooking and paper crafts industry. There are now four magazines – Scrapbook Trends, Paper Trends, Cards and Bead Trends. Scrapbooking Trends is an amazing, full color magazine on high quality thick magazine paper and honestly pulls its image off as more of an idea book even though it is published monthly. This is the same circumstances surrounding Cards and Paper Trends … Continue reading

Finding Free Magazines

I consider magazines a luxury item. They are filled with lots of great information, recipes, news, stories, gorgeous photos and more. You can reuse magazines for wrapping gifts, creating art and crafts and more. But, if you buy them, they can get quite expensive. Here are some ways to get all the magazine you could want for free. Sign up for free subscriptions. Over the years, I’ve gotten subscriptions for Family Fun, Better Homes and Gardens, Woman’s Day, Family Circle, Saveur, Kiplingers, Budget Living, Simple Living, Jane, American Baby and others, al just by signing up online. Media Review: Adoptive Families Magazine

Adoptive Families is a comprehensive bimonthly adoption magazine which covers all types of adoption—domestic and international, infant and older child, open, semi-open and confidential, and adopting from foster care. I have found the coverage to be very well-balanced among the different types. In the past two years I have canceled several magazine subscriptions because I don’t have time to read them. Adoptive Families, by contrast, is read cover to cover before I go to bed the day it is delivered. The magazine is written almost entirely by adoptive families. There are sections of advice from experts such as counselors, social … Continue reading

Where Are All The Scrapbook Magazines? (2)

In an earlier article, I exposed some older scrapbooking magazines that have now gone defunct. Now its time to take a closer look at scrapbooking magazines in more recent years. Creating Keepsakes My favorite, still. It has almost always had a place in the industry since I can remember. The leader in scrapbooking magazines as well as idea books, Creating Keepsakes is one of those resources you come back to again and again. Still standing after over ten years, it isn’t going anywhere for a long time to come. Making Memories This would be the other “original” scrapbook magazine. Again, … Continue reading

Magazines can be costly. Especially when you factor in the fact that most of them are monthly, with some even being weekly. So how do you enjoy your magazines, but save some money while doing it?
