Actually, I've tortured myself on more than one occassion. I ran my first in 1999 and hated my time so I ran others in an effort to better my time. I'm not done yet, I'm running another in the spring (hence the blogs) and I hope it will be my best yet. I forgot about Wayne's running routine. Let me know what he says about the lactic acid. I swear, for years I was told that leg massages after long runs were so beneficial b/c they helped break down built-up lactic acid in the muscle. Boy, was that wrong!!

I just can't get over the fact that the parents NEVER gave up hope even after 4.5 years I think Elizabeth Smart was found after 9 months, but 4.5 years, that is amazing faith.

As for your experiences Courtney, I think we grew up in the same era when parents didn't even know what a sexual predator was let alone allow it to prohibit their children from venturing out on their own. It's such a fine line between over protecting your kid and simply leaving things up to fate. Thanks for your great comment!

I'm so glad you wrote this. I have been wanting to rent this movie b/c I didn't have the time to see it in the theater. I have been wondering what happened. Now I don't have to rent it b/c you answered all my questions. Thanks!! And btw, I'm not one of those people who try to avoid movie write ups b/c I don't want the end of the movie spoiled.

BTW, Michelle Duggar announced that baby No. 18 is a girl and they intend to name her with a J name like the other 17 when she is born. Oh and Kara, I thought the same thing. I just wondered what opportunities they were given to date... not that they weren't date-able.

The Paralympic Games don't get nearly the coverage they deserve. I covered the Paralympic Games when I was reporting in Atlanta (following the 1996 Games) and the amount of coverage it gets is a blip on the screen (if that) compared to the actual Olympics. Really is sad, b/c most of the stories are at least if not more inspirational.

Pam, I can't believe you were able to find any color shorts in October!! I hear ya on the Dora costume. I have NEVER seen Dora with curly hair. I seriously don't know what manufacturers are thinking when they put these things out there. What "real" Dora costume comes with a whacked out wig?!!

They really do make a difference. Did I tell you that they have a similar program at my grandma's care facility? When we were home last time my dd went bonkers when she saw two pups and a kitten being pushed in a pet stroller on their way to visit residents. Some of the residents are more out of it than others, but there was one guy who wouldn't give one of the pup's (named sushi) back to the attendant. It was very sad to see. This place doesn't allow residents to have pets, but it does have a well trained adult golden retriver, who lives on-site, but I think he does something with the therapy folks.
