Ever since they were profiled in their first TV special this family has stirred emotions. There doesn't seem to be a middle ground when it comes to opinions on them--people either completely agree with their lifestyle or are completely opposed to it.

Purses, Parents, and Principals - Blog Entry

swtuthmommy3, I think the principal thought it would be easier to adopt an all out ban instead of saying your bag should be big enough for a tampon, but not big enough to conceal a handgun, dagger, etc. I heard that the school board is going to take up the issue once a new superintendent is in place.

So glad you are back Kristyn! Outstanding writing (per usual). What a horrific tragedy. I know it sounds trite, and I'm sure you don't have the time to consider this, but what a blessing you are for this child. She is so fortunate to have you in her life, though I'm sure your friends, family and husband remind you of this all the time. If nothing else this blog illustrates the type of love we should all be showing for children regardless of the way to come into our lives. I'm looking forward to reading the rest of the journey.

deedee I wondered the same thing and Valorie the new principal says he had such great results with the ban when he implemented it in his old middle school that he wanted to do the same at the high school. I wonder if he realizes that most girls don't start menstruating until they are leaving jr high and entering high school?

LOL Tristi, maybe some parent should suggest that the school should start providing the tampons for the girls in the bathroom---I'm sure that would open a Pandora's box.

I'm with you Valorie! And there's something to be said for people assuming your children are younger than they are when you are at the admission's gate of an amusement park. ;-)

My hat's off to all of you moms who help with the upkeep of your daughter's long hair!

Val--I love the Locks for love idea!

deedee--I honestly don't know how you deal with double the hairwashing, and combing, and primping... amazing!

swtuthmommy3--I would pay to have your daughter's curls... in fact I did years ago when I got a perm. It set me back $120!! My dd's hair is straighter than arrow.

Dale--You and I have the same cut!

Thanks for the comments!

Forgotten Anniversary - Blog Entry

Happy belated anniversary Courtney! It's the same date as my brother's b-day. Anyway, I suppose you could look at this situation two ways: On the bright side he did hightail it home with flowers, which is more than some wives get even when their husbands DON'T forget the date. He apologized, that's another bonus. On the other hand you didn't get your ring... but even that can be tempered by the fact that as you have said many times in the past, that's not Wayne's style and you accept him for who he is--warts and all. Which is not to say that you don't wish that he would change in that respect, but at least you don't get caught up trying to "fix" him. I say just forget about the date and when you are feeling better hit the town together and celebrate in style... and while you're out take him ring shopping!
