I'm a frequent checker too, but sometimes when my kid is really squirmy I skip it, and when I do, I always (and I mean always) find a mistake and end up having to make an additional trip back to the store. The checkers are never apologetic. Same with the fast-food people. My dad is a stalwart when it comes to checking fast-food receipts and the contents of his bag. For some reason in the 40-something years he has been ordering fast food the guys at McDonalds/Burger King/KFC/Dairy Queen/Jack in the Box/Wendys, etc. have NEVER gotten his order or change right! Millions of people LOVE those kids. I applaud their courage and see why MTV gave them their own reality show. I think it is a segment of adoption that is not reported on much and I'm glad to see that these seemingly humble and mature teens are getting the credit they deserve. What's more, I don't agree with "experts," who claim that the reason they don't work is that parents are not doing them right.
