I agree, Tricia, there's no better time of the year to get in the kitchen with your kids!

Halloween for Baby

31 Oct 2009 12:10 PM

You made the right decision. My daughter was Cillian's age for her first Halloween. We were in Hawaii visiting my mom who was recovering from Stage 2 breast cancer and I skipped the costume. She slept through all of the trick-or-treaters and the next year she killed as a Disney Dalmatian. The cutest pup ever--and I am a snap happy parent, so believe me when I say that it took a LOT of effort not to dress her up as a peapod for her first Halloween. Guess what? We survived and have yet to NOT dress up in subsequent years. She's been a giraffe, monkey, cat, and this year she's a dinosaur. I have 100s of photos of her in those costumes and they more than make up for the lost Halloween.

Skip this year and go all out next year. Your son won't care.

Jon Gosselins Mantrums and Michael Jackson's Millions

Jon's lucky, I actually think his self destruction came early. Look at other shameless Hollywood types like Mel Gibson who have yet to repent. Though, something tells me that Jon's so-called revelation has strings attached. There's more to this than meets the eye and I'm sure he is doing it for himself more than he is for his kids.

Affording Toys for the Holidays

I just heard that thrift stores are cutting back on stocking toys this season b/c of the government's crack down on lead and other harmful chemicals found in children's books (the ink) and plastic toys.

Still, you have some great tips here!

It was just a matter of time before Jon self destructed. No sympathy here!

Sorry to hear about your wife's grandpa. When you have kids it does take much to appreciate the irony of funerals and family bonding. This otherwise sad occasion was likely made a bit happier with the presence of your son.

Parents, Are You More Afraid of Math or the Sex Talk

31 Oct 2009 05:32 AM

This is so true! I'm not surprised at all, especially given that moms are typically the ones that give the sex talk and females are generally poorer in math and science than males.
