So we ended up not having one, although several people sent me some things anyway. I agree with Pattie that every baby should be celebrated. I think we are going to have a "welcome baby" party a few weeks after she arrives just to celebrate - if people want to bring a gift great, but there isn't as much obligation as if it were a shower. This is an area in our routine I am making some choices about now because up until the last couple months my son had no interest in tv. Now he asks for it everyday and for one specific show in particular. I only allow him to watch one short video a day, which has led to a few temper tantrums lately when he wants to watch more than that. I started letting him watch some Sesame Street in the mornings now too, which I have seen him learn language from firsthand. My son is a VERY visual person - he actually loves books even more than tv which I am so glad for, but has a great interest in tv as a result. I want to be sure that tv time he does get is limited and educational and that it doesn't become something I am dependant on every day to keep him occupied (although everyone has days where that is certainly needed!) Demonic Doors - Blog Entry21 Feb 2007 08:17 AM Yoga is a point of conflict withing my family...my father and husband disagree on it lets just say. My dad thinks it is dangerous for the reasons you mentioned in your article MJ, but my husband sees the physical benefits from it and doesn't use it so much as a mind-clearing activity. They agree to disagree though, and I stay out of it :). I think that it can be used in a godly way as pp mentioned by focusing your mind on Christ and things above as the Bible instructs us to do...it could actually be a very positive spiritual time for a Christian if approached properly. But you made a good point that we have to be careful what doors we open.
