It's a delicate balance...sometimes difficult. I do wish my husband and I were the same religion. It would make things much easier considering we have two kids. He doesn't insist that they practice either religion though, which is good. Neither do I. Though I very much wish we could share one relgion, we've agreed to show our kids both faiths. It is hard being married to someone of a different faith though. Like when I'm decorating the Christmas tree or putting presents under it, he helps, but can't relate to the "feeling" of it all, ya know? Islam and the Non-Muslim Wife - Blog Entry20 Jul 2006 09:18 AM Good article, Misty. I'm Christian and my husband is Muslim. The reason it works is that neither of us practices strictly. Yes, we both have our faith, our beliefs, our foundations though. That's not to say we haven't had a few problems over the years--when I innocently put up a small nativity set during Christmas and he equated it to decorating the house with religious pictures. My husband is from Turkey, and, although he's muslim, he's a supporter of Ataturk, the man who secularized Turkey. So he disagrees with covering women (unless it is their choice of course), etc. It's interesting to see the differences. I enjoy your articles and appreciate your insights. I do wish we could bring more cultural Turkish things into our home and celebrate Muslim holidays as well, as we celebrate my Christian ones. Easy Saucy Chicken - Blog Entry13 Jul 2006 10:19 AM You're welcome! I used the pre-frozen chicken breasts, you know, the ones that come frozen in the package? I just cooked it from the frozen state and it worked fine. It would be good with steak too! It's Tough Being ME - Blog Entry13 Jul 2006 08:57 AM Yes it is!! Let me know if they work for you.
