The Family Bed - Part 2: Sudden Infant Death Syndrome - Blog Entry

07 May 2006 05:03 PM

Hi TB. Yep, I heard the same thing - that because a mother and baby who are co-sleeping often face one another, that the mother's breath helps to regulate the baby's breath. I co-slept with my two children as well. I felt safer that way too. :-)

Journaling: Childrens Thoughts and Words - Blog Entry

What wonderful ideas! I'd never ever thought of that! I have certain things written down that my kids have said in a journal, but putting it in a scrapbook with a picture of them at that age makes it priceless. Thank you!

Tourette Syndrome: How Much Do You Know? - Blog Entry

03 May 2006 09:09 PM

This was an excellent article. When my son was two, a neurologist thought he might have Tourettes. He had frequent ticks where he would jut his arm out again and again. Then his head would jerk to the side. It was awful as he was so young and couldn't tell me what was happening. They tested him for epilepsy also. The tics went away shortly before a year and they have not returned. They were considered Transient Tics. He was very young to have gotten these. It's scary trying to diagnose such things. Thank you for your informative article.

Hahaahha....that IS a crazy month! Good luck to you! And I agree - homemade works best from the kiddos. And since you can't make it to Manhattan, what about a love letter for your wife? Sure would like to get one myself from my own hubby! How great too about your neighbors. Living in an apartment I don't even know mine! How wonderful to have block parties! Enjoy your wild month :-)

Loss - Blog Entry

03 May 2006 08:08 PM

I'm terribly sorry for your loss. Your story brought tears to my eyes since we just lost my mother-in-law suddenly a little over a month ago. My five-year-old has had a difficult time with "getting" the concept of death. He believes his Babanne (Turkish for Grandma) is in the Moon with God now. So he goes to the window and night and waves to the moon. Breaks my heart. Sometimes though he'll just be sitting there and I'll see his eyes fill with tears and he asks me why all his grandmas and grandpas have to go live in the moon. It's a difficult concept for adults to grasp, much less children. Looks like your little one has a great comfort in you.
