I should have added a clause about that in my article as well as a clause about arch support. Hopefully others will read these comments too. My son has very wide feet as well. I am lucky enough to have a Stride Rite outlet near me so his shoes have always been $19 to $25 maximum - still not cheap but not quite as expensive. If you can find one close to you check it out - same shoes, much much lower cost.
