Exercising in Heat and Humidity

22 Jul 2011 05:41 AM

I am continuing to exercise outdoors in the morning, despite the high temperatures and humidity, but I do it with some changes. For example, by drinking much more water, cutting down either the intensity or the duration, etc. After our run, our group headed over to the water pump in the park and doused our heads under the faucet, twice during our cool down walking laps. It felt really good.

Great article. What is the first step for someone who thinks that they may be suffering from this type of anxiety?

In my house a dish is practically not finished unless it has butter and garlic, but yours sounds much healthier!

Another One Bites the Dust

Thanks Ericka! We wound up buying a new one for only $377. It had the two things I wanted: a super large capacity and an extra rinse cycle (plus an extra spin cycle setting that I have been using a lot even though it wasn't on my needed list).

Gender Storm: Is Keeping Gender Secret Really Healthy?

19 Jun 2011 04:06 AM

I think there needs to be a separation of what is a male or female activity, from what it is to be male or female as a gender. You could have a strong woman who fills a traditional "male" career role while still embracing the fact that she is a woman and identifies as a woman.

A man who chooses to take on the traditional female role of stay at home parent and homemaker can still very much embrace his masculinity (and be very sexy doing it).

Society doesn't make it easy for someone to forge another path, that is for sure.

Surviving without Credit Cards

Ericka--it is interesting. Dave Ramsey talks about the strong loyalty most people have to their first cards, my husband included. He said that the credit card companies know this, so they are marketing the cards to younger and younger kids.

Very interesting way to teach a much needed lesson. I wish we could just go out there and poke a couple of adults in the finger with the glucometer tester!
