Frugal Consumers Hurt Recovery

22 Aug 2010 02:01 PM

Yeah, it is pretty frustrating, isn't it Frugal Amber? I remember that right after 911, the Mayor of NYC encouraged us all to go out and spend in restaurants, stores, etc so the enemy wouldn't win. While it was an important point that we should pull together and not hide, I would have been happier if he mentioned things such as going to the parks or the museum and libraries, too!

Free Reusable Shopping Bags

Well, one thing about the bags is that they don't have to be pretty, just sealed at the bottom. Most of the time they will be folded up in your purse or pocket anyway! But if you can churn out a few from old t-shirts, they will get better each time! My problem is that by the time someone is done with a t-shirt, it has to many holes in it that it wouldn't hold a thing as a bag.

It is wonderful to be such a good steward of your spending and then use those skills you have to bless others. I bet that the food bank winds up with so much more because of your careful and thoughtful shopping!

Coupon Pitfalls to Avoid Part 2

That is a good point. You don't wind to buy things, no matter how cheaply, if you can't use them. One thing that might help, if you have to buy the more expensive brands is to contact the manufacturer directly to see if you can buy it in bulk.

Wow--that is great, finding money in a purse. You would think that the store people would check that sort of thing.

Average Length of Marriages

I heard somewhere that the week after Mother's Day is the most popular time for a divorce order to be filed in the United States!

Thanks for getting the numbers, Dale.
