Breadmaker Breakdown of Savings (1) - Blog Entry11 Jan 2008 03:01 PM I have made jam using my neighbors blackberries but I didn't use a recipe, I just boiled them up with sugar and put it in jars and kept them in the fridge, it turned out ok, I did the same thing with fresh pears and dried prunes, that turned out a lot better. I would be very interested in the recipe that came with your breadmaker if you wouldn't mind. I will check out the links too. Thanks! Could-It-Get-Any-Cheaper Meals: Feed your Family for $1 per Serving - Blog Entry08 Jan 2008 06:00 AM I like the idea of the french bread pizza, it could be even cheaper if you made the bread yourself. My cheapest meal is lentil stew, I can make a huge pot for around a dollar or so and it is usually enough for a couple of meals or it can be frozen. Conquering The Grocery Waste (1) - Blog Entry12 Dec 2007 06:16 AM Wow, great article. This week I have been thinking about waste a lot too, but more in the sense of being careless about how much we use of something and using more than we need to. For example baking powder, when we don't measure it accurately, we use a lot more than we need to. Cleaning items are another example. There are a lot of things I believe we could use 50 to 75% less of and be fine and think of the money we could save by not running out of things and having to replace them so often, it seems like very a very small amount of money, but if you did it faithfully on a lot of items I think it would really add up quickly. Frugal Sewing Tips - Blog Entry09 Dec 2007 08:03 PM You can make beautiful quilts from your old baby clothes, it also saves a ton of money to sew your own baby diapers. Another good idea is to cut buttons or other items from old clothing and reuse them in other projects. Great post, I appreciate your creative ideas. Which Saves More?
