My own family even said I put him on medication because I didn't know how to parent him. Then they said I caused his condition by letting him stay a few nights with Grandma when he was a baby. I don't even have conversations alone with my male in-laws. My husband never has to worry if I am behaving wrong or coming on to other men. That helped him get through our 18 month separation. I have been very disturbed at the treatment of this Christian man, Abdul Rahman. Aghganistan is not the only country where converting from Islam will get you a death sentence. I know it is that way in Iran. I also believe it is that way in Saudi Arabia. I wish that all Muslims were as moderate as you. There was a day when Christians, Jews, and Muslims lived side by side peacefully. There is a great gap that exists today. Maybe, with people like yourself speaking out, the day will come when Islam is not feared, but normal. I just hope that your bravery in writing about tough subjects does not cause you problems with fellow Muslims. I saw the story of a former Muslim woman turned secular scholar. She was interviewed on Al Jazeera. She made a call to all Muslims to come into the 21st Century and embrace tolerance. She now has a price on her head for her bold and daring speech. How sad. I have a son with Asperger's Syndrome. Everyone thinks I am a terrible parent because my son looks normal but is hyperactive and throws tantrums.
