Can You Have Compassion for your Child's Unlikable Friends?

19 Jun 2008 06:47 PM

My son (8 year old) has one friend from school that is completely hyperactive, rude, and immune to any logic and discipline. After a few visits to our house, we decided not to allow him over.

I have since met the poor tike's parents at a parent teacher conference, and they also are hyperactive, rude, and immune to logic. It was a great reminder how some kids can only reflect what they are exposed to. A part of me wants to invite this child back into our home, so he can soak in a calm environment.

Water Safety for Pets

Just this weekend I watched a guy "cliff jumping" into water while holding dachsund. The poor thing was terrified and obviously couldn't swim. It was actually from this spot, just before this picture was taken: http://elliotts.eachday.com/entries/408596-father-s-day-elliott-style/items/408600

Some dogs enjoy water, some don't. Don't terrorize your dog!

Students Who Need More Guidance and Instruction

Thanks for observation Lyn. My two are so different - my oldest needs highly specific instructions and reasoning to start any task, while my youngest always seems to understand the general logic behind any request.
