DK615617Hi, it has been over a year or so since I have posted here.
I am still nursing Michael, as he is not quite a year old.
DH and I knew that I could get pg in spite of bf, and we were ok with that.
Due to bf I still had not gotten af since baby.
We bd around Dec 11 or so.
Dec. 22 I had some bleeding, I assumed it was af returning…it lasted 3 or 4 days, but after first day wasn’t much at all. Then on Jan 3 I started spotting brown. It continued all day and part of the next.
Dr. Appt on the 6th with vag. U/s showed no gestational sac. Dr. sent me for blood work and we will try again on Tuesday. I started spotting today again, but not much again, although this time red.
What are your thoughts ?
wanttobemommyThis is actually the situation I found myself in a couple different times so I can not tell you for sure what I think that it is. I would say the best course of action is to NOT rely soley on the ultrasound.
You want to make sure they are doing a quantitative beta hcg blood test. Since you are still BF and you have NO idea as to when you ovulated you dont know what gestational size they are looking for. This almost caused me to have a D&C of the pregnancy that resulted in my precious little man Wyatt.
The Beta will show if your levels are going up or down. If they are going up then all is well and they can do an ultrasound once your HCG is over 2000 they will be able to see more than the sac. If they are going down they can monitor it.
Since a sac was seen in your uterus there is no real need to worry about ectopic pregnancy but it could also be a molar or partial molar pregnancy. I am not trying to offer any scary news but I am trying to be realisitc. Since I have had so many miscarraiges for different reasons I know most of the possible outcomes.
Recently I was in the same perdicament for me it turned out that I miscarried. I am hoping for you that the first few days were actually implatation bleeding. which would be perfect because then there wouldnt be much for them to see
KR258Oh Kasia! Idk, I am praying for you and dh! I hope it was just too early to see. I had some spotting through my pregnancy, sometimes brown, sometimes red. My doctors were never really concerned with my spotting unless it was clots. I think its harder to for OB’s to pinpoint how far along you should be when you are bfing and no af. I have lots and lots of hope that everything is okay. If you ever want or need to talk you can call me, text me, email me. I will give you my cell, I don’t think you have it. Idk but pretty sure I forgot to give it to you when I got the new number. I <3 you like a sister!
bhoneycuttI also think it might have been implantation bleeding. I agree about getting the quantitative blood test. Is that what your doctor ordered after your u/s? Although I have had a miscarriage, it was a “missed miscarriage” meaning my body had no signs whatsoever. The baby passed away at eight weeks but I didn’t find out until my first check-up at 12 weeks. I had no bleeding/cramping, etc. so I can’t comment to what kind of bleeding a miscarriage causes.
I am praying for the best for you! I hope it’s just a little spotting and that there is a healthy baby bean sprouting as I type!
(As I was previewing this, I saw that I have a ticker that says I am six weeks pregnant. I am not. I was probably six weeks along two years ago with Macy. I’ve got to figure out how to change that! LOL)
punkepoohI had a very similar experience with my first visit this pregnancy. First us showed gestational sack as well as yolk sack but no baby. I should have been 6 w by lmp but doctor said because of Ochoa and irregular cycles I
May have oed a bit later than lmp would suggest. One week later baby was there with his or her little heart just beating away. You were bf so they don’t know when you oed I agree with Kristen get the blood work and go from there sending hugs!!! KUP
kalhayd2How scary! I don’t have a lot of experience in this area. With my miscarriage it was missed and at 12 weeks. I will say I spotted with Brenton from 7-11 weeks(brown!) It was scary, but he’s here and healthy as can be! Good luck!
DK615617Hcg for the first test came back at 166.
Is that good or bad?
I think it sounds really low…..but I guess I will find out tomorrow. I should have been right around 5 weeks.
With Michael my number was 85 at 4 weeks. So I am thinking this doesn’t look good.
