A Completely Changed Life - Blog Entry

What Ron and Ruth have in common with many couples who stay married despite mixed orientation is honesty, openness, transparency, and trust. Sadly, when a ministry is all about making someone ungay, those qualities are overlooked. Good for them!

One of the problems I have with most ex gay ministries is that they concentrate on aversion, and ignore the spouse. It sounds like this minister has embraced a total awareness of manhood, male sexuality in all the variety it can be present in, and committed himself to a wife.

My question would be, for his wife, how much of their married life is about her, and how much of it is centered on making him the person he wants to be?

A number of people who "change" actually have been bisexual all along, and are able to form these decisions to stick with one person. Sexuality is not a complete clean duality of gay/straight - many people have something else mixed in due to their lifetime experiences and don't have the typical politically correct version of "always knowing they were gay".

Sexual wholeness is not dependent on a partner. It has to stand on its own.

John Travolta and Kelly Preston's Son Jett Dies - Blog Entry

This is really sad. I hope that they will honor his memory by supporting charities for people with autistic spectrum disorders in NJ, where they are from - and where there is the biggest percentage of autism.

She may be on to something with the chemical sensitivity.

I'm Supposed to be Too Old for Breakouts! - Blog Entry

static796, acne at 35 is not quite the same thing as when you are a teen - I had it - and combination oily dry skin, and probably what you are dealing with in part is rosacea. It is sort of a vicious circle, the inflammation and the zits. And hormones, chocolate, alcohol are all triggers for it - for some people hot temperatures or cold temperatures. salacylic acid is good, as are anti inflammatories, moisturizers, and there are prescription creams too. When it was severe for me, I took low doses of antibiotic, but I try to avoid that. Diet has changed for other health things, and that helps a lot. I am in my 50s now. What's left of my hair is still oily, but my skin does a lot more flaking and drying out. Drink LOTS of water, exercise, sunscreen, and avoid the foods that set it off, and you will keep it under control better.

Grandparents who are Just Too Much - Blog Entry

She probably could have knocked. And that is an important conversation to have. And she should have asked you before feeding. But....

Maybe she just wants to be friendly. I recall being up at 6 am with babies a lot, so she may not understand that it is intrusive.

Really, if this is annoying you, it is time for you to find a place on your own. But treasure your grandparents - mine died by the time I was 8 with the exception of my grandpa, who was very ill with a stroke and could not talk to me. I loved my grandparents very much and still miss them - they sometimes annoyed my parents, but they were very important to me.

Grandparents who try to take legal custody - who interfere with the daycare - who won't use a carseat - who interrupt nap time - who buy the presents they think the child OUGHT to want instead of what the child is interested in - those are the problem grands.

What is Christmas? - Blog Entry

I am a true Christmas freak. We are finishing the tree today and then setting up the trains. We will go to Christmas eve service and supper afterwards. Like you, I love receiving cards, especially those which depict a religious theme. However, for me, I like to parodize things - so I am always sending humorous Santa cards.

It is a time of great joy, even in the midst of sorrow

Exercise Time: Crunching the Numbers - Blog Entry

22 Dec 2008 08:20 PM

My life is based on numbers. First, the numbers on the glucometer. Then, the numbers on the scale. Then, the numbers on the timer when I run. The numbers of steps. The pulse rate numbers. No wonder I always hated math!!!
