In my part of the country, Pittsburgh PA, The Salvation Army offers a free toy program for qualified parents, the working poor, and those at or below the poverty level. You might want to call your local Salvation Army to see if they are doing the same. Here, parents register their children and they are placed on an "Angel Tree" for people to purchase age-appropriate toys. They are distributed the week before Christmas.

My house was built in 1875, solid brick and plaster. If the windows are covered with plastic in the winter, we can live at 60-degrees in the daytime. In summer, we're 10-15-degrees cooler than outside. This is so cool. (Or warm.)

Homeless folk lead itinerant lives. They must always pick up and go to another place. What is sorely needed is new, sturdy, warm clothes. We get lots of scarves and hats, but coats and sweaters are in short supply. Large sizes.
