Thanks for your encouragement. Kids and Growth Hormones - Blog Entry21 May 2007 06:28 PM We are actually close to facing this dilemma with our son. He is two and the size of a one year old. In fact all the one year olds I know have passed him up. We are having many tests run and he is on a special diet. We have pretty much decided that we won't do growth hormone treatments unless there is a medical necessity (i.e. growth hormone deficiency syndrome). He is active, fun, loves to play sports and very smart. He is very coordinated for his age and so there are no developmental problems to accompany this. It actually took me talking to my ob/gyn who is a wonderful sweet doctor to realize that shortness isn't the end of the world. He is happy and successful in his life. He is only two or three inches taller than me and I am 5'2" tall. In talking to him I was able to realize that my son can still have a wonderful life despite his size. The risks that go along with growth hormone therapy are too great to be taken lightly. It is a matter of serious thought and looking at your personal situation. It is difficult to be short, and I don't think that you can change others' perception of you. I have had some very hurtful comments made to me, because my son is so small. It is a difficult choice. My husband has vacuumed the whole house several times. He really enjoys it. I am not going to complain. It is bagless as well. I hope that it lasts past the five year warranty! Why Aren't You Preparing? - Blog Entry15 May 2007 06:18 PM I think that is really a theme everywhere. In my mom's ward in Utah, they have a whole committee planned and the ward is broken into groups of ten families. I think that we need to make sure that we are prepared. In the last few weeks there have been fires, flooding and tornadoes.
