Missionaries - Blog Entry

I agree with you. I think that it comes from the extra study and devotion that you have while on a mission. The Lord helps to broaden your understanding as you serve others. Thanks for your comment.

Primary Time: Nursery Leader - Blog Entry

Try having the nursery in the cultural hall. We are in an older building, so you can just push open the door and make a dash for it. One week, my dh was helping someone set up a video, when he was walking back to Priesthood, he found my son just wandering the halls. Nowhere near his class! Both normal teachers were out that week. Ah well. What can you do? They do usually have someone sitting at the door they leave open. The back door is usually blocked with a rolling cart or taped shut.

I totally agree with you. When my daughter was in nursery we were in the same ward as my in-laws. My mil just can't stand to see any of her grandchildren sad, so we had the hardest time getting dd to stay. My son went in much better, but with recent illness and winter weather, and the new baby we are having some road bumps. The problem now is that he escapes.

Newsies (1992) - Blog Entry

Wow! I had friends who saw this in the theater over ten times. I had the movie as a teenager. I really enjoyed it. I like the story, the music and the dancing. I was in the eighth grade when this came out and I liked all of the boys. I have always been a big fan of musicals as well.

The Dangers of Complacency - Blog Entry

It is funny, because I tend to cycle in and out of complacency. It is difficult to make time, and easy to allow distractions. However, I can tell a difference in my attitude and focus when I really focus on making these things a priority. Thanks for your comments.

A Moment on Modesty - Blog Entry

I would never look down at someone for bringing a baby to church in sleeveless dresses. Sundresses are cute and I think most are not inappropriate for young girls. That being said, I personally wouldn't. I agree with Nola, that you have to decide when to draw the line, and I think it is just easier to draw it at the beginning, rather than later on.

A side note: My dd did wear sleeveless shirts (not tank tops) and dresses one summer when she was one. She broke her arm and that was all I could get on over her cast. I was very grateful that was summer. No one said anything about her clothes.

What really brothers me are the clothes that make an object out of someone. Especially on little girls. I think that they should be taught to respect themselves.

The Last Unicorn (1982) - Blog Entry

My daughter has this movie. She is on a unicorn kick. My husband remembered it from when he was young, but I didn't. It is definitely strange, long, and I didn't really see the point. I didn't want to follow the story and I didn't care for the animation style.

Personal Prayer - Blog Entry

Thank you for your comments. I often struggle with making time to pray as well. It can be difficult to find time to pray uninterrupted as well. My daughter really is an example to me. It is amazing how much she is learning.

The Friend Magazine - Blog Entry

I love "The Friend." I still read it cover to cover and I'm an adult, but I really love how it helps me teach my children. I love the craft ideas, and the ideas for family home evenings in the back.

I hope you get some sleep as well! I certainly didn't get half of what I wanted to done in my free postpartum time--and I add people staying with me taking care of my kids!
