I've heard (not confirmed) that flour is not currently available through some home storage centers. However you can get flour at Sam's or Costco in bulk for pretty cheap. Church Callings: Emergency Preparedness Coordinator - Blog Entry11 Apr 2008 08:03 PM You may want to set up a class that is offered to the community about emergency preparedness. Actually it could be several classes on one Saturday as a community outreach event. Depending on where you are your response would be different. If you are outside of Utah you have a bigger group to reach. This type of class has gone over very well in the communities I have lived in. Good luck Focus on Food Storage - Blog Entry07 Apr 2008 06:24 PM Thanks for your suggestions and encouraging words. I agree that it is something that needs to happen a little bit at a time. Doing every little bit can make a big difference. The MRE meals are very convenient. They are great for 72 hour kits, but they can supplement your year's supply as well. It's important to remember to rotate everything. Thanks for your comments! Effective Family Home Evenings - Blog Entry07 Apr 2008 06:22 PM I agree that children involvement in presenting and preparing the lesson really helps them to pay attention. It also helps them to have something to focus on during the lesson--for some children this might mean coloring a picture during the lesson, other children really benefit from visual aids. Family Home Evening: General Conference - Blog Entry07 Apr 2008 06:00 PM That's a great idea. It will help to build comprehension when you have them make up the questions. A prize with each turn is a great way to keep younger ones attention. Thanks for your comments and input. I really appreciate the suggestions. Food Storage Items Available Online - Blog Entry25 Mar 2008 12:11 PM I agree that it is often cheaper elsewhere. The one advantage is that it comes already canned. Also our ward is doing a Walton Feed order and wheat is completely unavailable through them. Due to droughts in several countries, there is actually a world wide wheat storage--so the higher church prices may be worth it for wheat right now. Tithing and the Economy - Blog Entry20 Mar 2008 07:13 AM Thanks for sharing. I agree that tithing should always come first. I have seen numerous blessings in my life, even and especially when things are extremely tight for us financially. I know that we couldn't make it without paying tithing. Tax Cut - Blog Entry12 Feb 2008 08:46 PM If you make less than $54,000 a year you qualify for free file through the IRS. This allows you to use the software online, and file online for free. It is basic software, but covers most situations. Just thought your readers would like to know. What's the Big Deal about Caffeine? - Blog Entry07 Feb 2008 07:42 PM A few months ago I was under a huge deadline and lots of pressure with other stuff going on in my life. The only way I could get things done was to stay up and only function with a few hours of sleep at night, I drank a lot of soda. About half way through the entire experience my entire body just ached. And I realized that it was the caffeine was the problem. Once I stopped taking it (even though I was still operating on the small amount of sleep) my body felt so much better. My dh has found that his legs will get really tight and painful to the point that he can't sleep when he has caffeine on a regular basis. So he has cut back a lot. As for the headaches, it is my only shot at stopping a migraine, and many of the over counter and prescription medicines use caffeine as well. Until I find something better I'm going to keep doing it. (Fortunately I only get a few a year). Let me know if you find a better solution. In Honor of President Gordon B Hinckley - Blog Entry28 Jan 2008 09:13 PM I am too.
