I opted to go the family route first. It is more important to me than a career ultimately, plus I don't want to feel old. I want to enjoy my grandchildren, and my retirement. I want to enjoy my children while I still have the energy to chase after them. Plus I want four kids, so that is a pretty large family. If I had waited I don't think that I could do all of these things. For my family, having kids while I am young is the right choice. Can You Borrow Your Way Out of Debt? - Blog Entry16 Jan 2007 06:48 PM I think everyone needs to be careful when they consider debt consolidation. I have witnessed one family go through debt consolidation several times, usually rolling it into a refinance on their mortgage. A year later they are in the same situation. The sad thing is that the home should have been completely paid for, a few years ago, and they still owe close to 100,000 on it! Yikes! The best thing to do is find a way to make your payments and change your habits! Family Home Evening: Welcoming a New Baby - Blog Entry16 Jan 2007 06:45 PM Yup, we actually did this last night. I'm just waiting for the little one to come. Any day now! A Baby Ruth would be a great refreshment. Growing up I knew a family of Ruth's and that would be even more appropriate for them! Dinner Discussions 2007 Week 2 - Blog Entry16 Jan 2007 06:43 PM Wow! What an idea the entire Gospel Doctrine class taking teacher development at once. It is a great class though. Great manual and resource. It is funny what kids can remember with a little nudge in the right direction! My daughter (5) came home with a badge that said Heavenly Father wants me to ETR. My dh tried to give her a hard time, but she kept explaining it meant choose the right. General Conference: "The Power of Personal Testimony" - Blog Entry13 Jan 2007 06:44 PM Often gratitude is the beginning of testimony. He will come along. Often testimony comes through struggles and trials. Thanks for sharing! Date for Your Family's Sake - Blog Entry13 Jan 2007 06:39 PM I agree. Your relationship with your spouse is the most important one in your family, since your entire family dynamic revolves around it. It is important to take the time to nurture it. Jumpstarting Journal Writing - Blog Entry12 Jan 2007 01:37 PM I guess since I love to write, venting in my journal is one the best ways I can deal with my emotions. Plus I think that my posterity will benefit much more from seeing my inner struggles, than reading about my supposedly perfect life. Come on! No one has a perfect life, and what makes us strong and admirable is the way we handle adversity. Look at Alma, and Nephi and the trials they went through, and the way they responded it is their examples that inspire me, but they weren't entirely perfect people. Thanks for sharing. Are You Planning on Winning the Lottery? - Blog Entry11 Jan 2007 08:04 PM I know that most people aren't going to win the lottery--(I do know someone who really did win, and so much that they couldn't possibly go through it in the time they had left. They were in their eighties when they won.) But I do think a lot of people get inheritances at some time. The sudden windfall is gone so quickly--if they don't plan ahead and budget. I think that I saw a program where they profiled lottery winners and most of them were in worse financial condition a few years later, than before they had won. Thanks for your comments! Celebrating the Small Victories - Blog Entry11 Jan 2007 07:59 PM The dry erase marker on the mirror is a great idea. That really keeps the numbers current and fresh. I like the way that would remind you to stay focused! Thanks for sharing! Youth Fireside on New Year's Eve - Blog Entry09 Jan 2007 08:14 PM I am glad that you enjoyed the fireside. I thought that it sounded like it would be an enjoyable evening. I love all the people who spoke, and I am a big Peter Brienholt fan. It is nice to hear that youth enjoyed the night.
