It is really almost a non-issue with us. It is a choice about fitting in. My dh's one friend who was not circumcised (which I found out through a mutual friend when discussing this issue) always felt uncomfortable because he was not. I just don't want my boys to feel that way. It is changing that there are more uncircumcised boys than there used to be. I don't know what I would do if I lived somewhere when they did not. The pain issue is real, but I gave my first tylonel, and it didn't seem to bother him after a few days. Better when he is younger rather than older in my opinion. Is Your Bank Working for You? - Blog Entry27 Dec 2006 06:53 PM Thanks for the comments. I agree that there is something to be said for staying with a bank that is treating you well. Many people don't realize that you can change your type of account to better fit your needs without leaving the bank. --I wish I had to worry about how much the FDIC insures. :-) Don't Lose Money on Your Tax Refund - Blog Entry23 Dec 2006 08:04 PM Personally I have received my refunds the last few years in about two weeks time. I file early so I do not get caught up in the rush that comes towards the end tax season. I also believe that people should have the information available to them in order to make an informed decision. If they choose to lose the money because they do not want to wait, that is their individual choice. I also know that e-file with direct deposit (which speeds the refund significantly) is not available to those who do not have checking and savings accounts. I worry about the truly poor, because I feel that they are often taken advantage of. The people who make over 70k a year, probably wouldn't blink an eye at the $100.00 fee. But if they truly need the money, then that $100.00 would help them as well. This blog was intended to inform people about the options available to them. Primary Time: Primary Theme for 2007 - Blog Entry22 Dec 2006 10:55 PM My daughter's is blue. That is her current favorite color. I would get colors that appeal to both boys and girls. I am not good at predicting trends, but my daughter seems to be ahead of the game. For the last two years her favorite color was orange, and it made quite a comeback--maybe blue is the way to go. Honestly I don't know--your children should have good opinions on the cool colors for your area. Skipping Christmas - John Grisham - Blog Entry22 Dec 2006 07:52 PM I enjoyed the book, but many people who I recommended it to did not. I still laugh when I think of Luther hanging upside down from his roof trying to attach a Santa. It has definite moments. Relief Society: Five Tips on Taking Meals to Families - Blog Entry21 Dec 2006 11:00 PM With my second, the sisters, who brought me meals, knew my mother-in-law was coming to help, so they all waited until she went home, and then they brought me my meals. It was nice to have them then. (Though I think my mother-in-law was surprised that no one brought meals to the family right after the baby.) There is nothing wrong with asking for a delay, though often the Relief Society will bring in meals while the mom is still in the hospital to help out the dad. Visiting Teaching - Blog Entry21 Dec 2006 10:55 PM I see Visiting Teaching as a blessing as well. I am a very shy person, and have a hard time opening up with people. I love the bond that comes when I visit someone. It is sometimes hard when you do not click with the sisters you are visiting or who visit you, but everyone has something to learn from the people around them. Visiting teaching gives us the opportunity to learn about new things, and to help people. I do not think that the program is in any way obsolete. In today's world where you do not get to know your neighbors and you are busy rushing your children from activity to activity, Visiting teaching is a chance for you to reconnect with sisters from church, renew yourself spiritually, and form genuine friendships! New 2007 Theme for Mutual - Blog Entry21 Dec 2006 10:51 PM I think it is great to adopt the theme personally. It really helps to build up the youth, if they see the adults focusing on the same ideas. Thanks! Primary Time: Primary Theme for 2007 - Blog Entry21 Dec 2006 10:48 PM I think the themed bracelets are a great idea. My daughter just receive one for her birthday from her Primary teacher. She thinks she is so cool. (My daughter just turned five.) I also know that my stake did themed wristbands for Youth Conference last year. It is a simple reminder that the kids can wear, but it doesn't stick out too much, since so many people use them. Good Luck! Five Tips to Complete Your Visiting Teaching - Blog Entry19 Dec 2006 08:23 PM This is a great idea.
